Fixing Office 365 Login Issues

Environment:
Fresno State University, Office 365

Article Summary:
Having issues using Office 365 after switching to your Fresno State account? This article provides information about resolving this issue.

Resolution:
If a user has had a free trial of Office365, and subsequently signed up for a Fresno State Office365 license through Fresno State, they may run into issues when attempting to sign in to Office using their Fresno State account.

  1. First, uninstall Office365. Do this through the control panel, select "Uninstall a program", and then select the entry/entries for Microsoft Office or Office 365 and click "uninstall"

  2. Once the uninstaller has finished, reboot the machine when prompted.

  3. Once all instances of Microsoft Office have been uninstalled, use the Office365 installer downloaded from the Office.com dashboard

  4. Once installation is complete, open any Office365 app (such as Word or Excel), and attempt to sign in using the Fresno State Account that was used to register for Office365.

**If still unable to sign in, there may be bad credentials stored on the machine. To resolve this issue:

  1. Close Office365
  2. Open Credentials Manager (can be found by typing "Credentials Manager" in the search bar on the taskbar).
  3. Select "Windows Credentials",
  4. Remove any Office365 related entries.

The user should now be able to sign in to their Office365 installation using their Fresno State credentials.
