Having issues with sound or projecting in classrooms?

Resolution:

Question: The projector is ON. I’m on the right input but I can’t see my presentation on the screen, just the background of my laptop?

Answer: It’s most likely is a screen mirroring issue

  • Windows: Press Win+P and bring up the “Project” Pop-up menu. Select “Duplicate” if you’d like to see exactly what’s on your laptop on the projection screen
  • Apple: Go to the Apple menu > System Settings > Displays. In the sidebar, click the name of your external display and select Mirror for Built-in Display in the "Use as" pop-up menu. You can also use the Command + F1 keyboard shortcut to quickly toggle mirroring.

Question: I’m in a Hyflex Room, I’ve turned on the projector, but no matter what input I select it never shows up on screen.

Answer: Probably what is happening is that the system is toggled to HyFlex mode on the control panel.

  • On the control panel there is a button labeled “Extron/Zoom”, press that button and wait 5 seconds and your selected input should show up on the screen

Question: I’m trying to play a video but the audio is only coming out of my laptop speakers?

Answer: Your audio on your laptop did not transfer to your selected input at the teaching station.

  • Windows: Left click on the speaker Icon > select a sound output > Lastly choose the sound output that corresponds to the input you’ve selected on the control panel.
  • Apple: in the upper right corner select the quick settings button > Sound > lastly choose the sound output that corresponds to the input you’ve selected on the control panel.

NOTE: Normally your audio will follow your selected input automatically. When this doesn’t happen, it’s best practice to shut down your laptop and restart it and that functionality should be restored.
