Upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11

Article Summary:
Windows 10 to Windows 11 upgrade due to Microsoft's end of Service for Windows 10.
Resolution:
Microsoft has ended support for Windows 10. To maintain university security and compliance requirements, university-owned Windows 10 computers will be upgraded to Windows 11.
When you receive the upgrade notification, you can choose to:
- Upgrade now and begin the installation immediately.
- Postpone the upgrade to a more convenient time.
- Take no action, and the upgrade will be installed automatically by September 1, 2026.
Before you begin:
The Windows 11 upgrade takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours to complete. Before starting, we recommend saving any important files to Google Drive as an added precaution. Once the upgrade begins, please do not turn off your computer or interrupt the installation process.
Your area's IT Liaison will schedule these upgrade notifications over the next month.
